Wodson Park U17s finished the season with a flourish after beating Panshanger Panthers 2-1 in the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Division Four Cup final.
Having already knocked out the title winners in a previous round, they now faced the runners-up in the final.
After a cautious start from both sides it was Panshanger who nearly took the lead when they struck the bar.
Wodson eventually worked their way into the game and were rewarded after 20 minutes.
A determined run and cross from Harry Woodall was met first time by Rob Stephens and although his initial strike was saved, Jack Johnston was on hand to knock in the rebound.
After the break Wodson substitute Harvey Joyce was causing the Panshanger defence problems.
Then, in the 50th minutes Tiernan Buffoni broke down the wing and played an excellent ball to Joyce, whose cross was meet by Woodall and Wodson were 2-0 up.
The Wodson midfield and defence worked tirelessly in the heat to restrict Panshanger to long range shots.
Although Panshanger managed to pull a goal back with 15 minutes to go, Wodson comfortably held on for a 2-1 win.
